A route from Osaka/Kyoto to Takayama and Shirakawago is taking Shinkansen bullet train from Shin-Osaka or Kyoto Station to Gifu-Hashima Station, and then take a 10-hour Takayama and Shirakawago tour by a minibus. Smaller cars are not available in this option, so this plan is recommended for a group of 8-17 pax. Shinkansen return ticket fare from Osaka is about 11.800 yen, from Kyoto about 10.480 yen. (adult, low season price) for a reserved seat. Please note that Shinkansen Nozomi does not stop at Gifu-Hasima Station. So you have to choose Hikari or Kodama. You can use JR Pass for Hikari and Kodama.
A bus company gives us a special offer of their 18-seater minibus. This is the most recommendable tour plan for groups of up to 18 pax for Takayama and Shirakawago.

Price of the tour is fixed at 196,000 yen (18-seater minibus) including driver, highway tolls, parking fees, an English-speaking guide, and tax.
Bus and guide service start/terminate at Gifu-Hashima station.
Shinkansen fare,meals and entrance fees are NOT included, though it can be arranged accoding to your requet. During high-season such as new years holidays, service charge will be added.
